未来への種まき～伝え続ける語り部プロジェクト～

この東北への旅を通して、最も印象深かった場面というものを書かせていただきます。
本当に多くのことが心に残っており、ただひとつを挙げるというのは不可能に近い作業でした。気仙沼でみた大きな船でしょうか。それとも私が生涯会った中でも、おそらく最も勇敢な2人の漁師でしょうか。変わり果ててしまった小学校、病院、あるいは私たちが泊まったすぐそばにあった曲がりくねったベンチでしょうか。
ですが正直に申しますと、今も思い出されるシーンは被災地に到着してすぐに感じたとてつもなく大きな虚無感です。かつては家が、家庭が、生活があった場所が、今となっては家の基盤と雑草しかありませんでした。紅の夕日が茫洋に反射され、それはまるで空虚な大海のようでした。過去と現在のコントラストが心を痛めました。あのころの生活はみんなどこに持っていかれてしまったのか。人間の生命が、生活がこんなにもあっけなく消え去ってしまうことがどうしておこりうるのか。
ですが幸運にもそこには違ったコントラストもありました。現在と未来のコントラストです。津波がすべてを奪っても、気仙沼の小学生が描いた絵にはすべての色が炎炎と輝いており、未来への豊かな希望を映し出していました。もし私が東北のために一つ願うことがあるとすれば、それはその希望が大切に育まれることです。この絵を見ると、きっとどんな人もその育みをやめることはできないでしょう。
短いお話でしたが、これが少しでもお役に立てれば幸いです。

I will write the most impressive and memorable scene during the journey.
There were so many impressive moments that it's almost impossible to name just one: is it the Memorial Ship at Kesennuma? Or the two fishery leaders, probably one of the bravest people I have ever met in my life? The destroyed elementary school, the shattered hospital, or the simple bent fence just next to the place where we stayed?
But honestly speaking, the scene I keep coming back to is the vast emptiness when we first arrived at the disaster site. Where there had once been houses and homes and lives, there was now nothing but a field of foundations and grass. The crimson sun set was reflected by the flat vastness as if it had been an empty ocean. The contrast between the past and the present was heartbreaking. Where had all the life been taken? How is this possible for human life to be reduced to nothing in such a small instant?
Fortunately, there was another contrast, too: the one between the present and the future. If the disaster site was full of nothing, the drawing made by the schoolchildren of Kesennuma was blazing in every colour, symbolising the richness of the hope for the future. If there is one thing I want for Tohoku, it is that this hope be respected. And how could one not commit oneself to this task, working for the realisation of this hope, after seeing the drawing?"
